  1. FlexText is a Shareware program that prints files or clipboard data in a
  2. variety of fonts and page configurations.  This program must be run on
  3. OS/2 2.0 with access to a OS/2 supported graphics printer.  In addition,
  4. the OS/2 system fonts must be installed.

  7. INSTALLATION:
  8.  
  9.         1.  Copy FLXT.EXE, FLXT.HLP, and FLXTREAD.ME to a directory of your
  10.             choice.
  11.  
  12.         2.  Drag the "program" object from "templates" (usually found
  13.             in the OS/2 system object).  The settings notebook will appear.
  14.  
  15.         3.  In the "Path and file name" box, enter FLXT.EXE preceded by
  16.             the directory you copied it to.
  17.  
  18.         4.  In the "Working directory" box enter the directory you
  19.             placed the program in - or - add the FlexText directory to
  20.             the SET HELP: statement of your config.sys file. If you skip
  21.             this step, help may become disabled because the system will
  22.             be unable to find the FLXTXT.HLP file.

  24.         5.  Skip to the "General" tab and enter FlexText in the "Title" entry
  25.             field.

  29. FlexText supports the following special characters and formats:
  30.  
  31.         1. TABS    - the program can expand tab characters (hex "09") from
  32.                      1 to 16 spaces depending on the setting found in
  33.                      OPTIONS/PREFERENCES.

  35.         2. ANSI    - upon opening a file, a window is displayed asking if the
  36.                      file contains ANSI control characters.  These characters
  37.                      are found in the first position of every line and have
  38.                      the following values:
  39.  
  40.                      "1" - advance to top of page.
  41.  
  42.                      "0" - double space before printing.
  43.  
  44.                      "-" - triple space.
  45.  
  46.                      "+" - overtype (ignored in creating a print file).
  47.  
  48.         3. x"0C"   - a hex "0C" is treated as a page break when printing a
  49.                      file.  When a print file is created from an ANSI input
  50.                      file, the program will insert x"0C" where it determines
  51.                      is appropriate assuming the selection is "on" in the
  52.                      OPTIONS/PREFERENCES settings.

  54. FlexText's user interface was designed to be intuitive and therefore requires
  55. no written documentation to use.  Help is available in most screens providing
  56. information regarding options and procedures.  Typical use of the program
  57. would be to select menu items OPEN/FILE, open a file using the displayed
  58. window (a view of the file is displayed), and then print the file by selecting
  59. menu item PRINT and subsequently pushing the PRINT pushbutton.  Along the way
  60. you are provided with options that affect page orientation,  pages per sheet,
  61. font, point size, etc.  The best way to learn this program is simply to
  62. experiment!

  64. An input file can be automatically opened by dropping the object on the
  65. FlexText icon.  The Print menu item can then be selected to generate the
  66. report.

  68. The REGISTER menu item presents a window describing the registration process.
  69. This SHAREWARE program requires registration after a 60 day evaluation period.
  70. SHAREWARE is a unique concept of allowing you to try programs before you
  71. purchase them.  This ensures that you pay for "useful" software unlike the
  72. more traditional commercial distribution method.  By registering this software,
  73. you help support a more honest, responsive, and economical form of software
  74. development.
